From the team behind the city’s riverside Opa Bar + Mezze comes Yamas Greek, another stunning Greek restaurant dishing up hearty Agean fare. Joining the ever expanding foodie offering at West Village, Yamas Greek has followed in its older siblings footsteps with a glam space featuring circular booths under striped umbrellas around the venue’s edge. The similarities end there however, as while Opa takes its cue from the stonewashed towns of the Greek Islands, Yamas has a warmer, more rustic palette, featuring terrazzo tables, rust-coloured seating and rose marble benches.

Fitting in with those giant booths, the menu is of course all about sharing. Start things off with warm pita bread with dips like taramasalata or hot pepper and feta tyrokafteri, and mezze like haloumi chips, flash fried calamari, stuffed zucchini and of course, gooey saganaki. Larger plates include rich moussaka, braised beef pasta and the extravagant dry aged t-bone, or there’s lamb and chicken from the souvla menu. Can’t decide? Just opt for the banquet and get a mix of everything.

You can match it all with cocktails, wine and beers—unless you’re there in the AM to try out their breakfasts (though there are breakfast cocktails available from 10am). Yep, Yamas is dishing up Greek brunches from 7.30am–11am daily, which include the likes of egg, haloumi and lamb yiros, baked Ioannina eggs, Greek rice pudding and leek and cheese filo. Basically, you’ll want to stay at Yamas all day.
